Social Isolation is the biggest stressor of them all

If you ask a prisoner what he fears most, some will probably give you the answer of “solitary confinement”, where you are locked in a room and have little to no contact with people.

A 25 year study shows people who experienced social isolation had a 32% higher risk of dying early from any cause compared with those who weren’t socially isolated. Participants who reported feeling lonely were 14% more likely to die early than those who did not.

There are numerous studies that express the benefits of having friends and being in relationships in terms of lowering stress. You become a lot less stressed and emotionally supported when you build connections with other living things (humans, animals, and plants as well.
